QUART BAG: A Community Art Show at Civilian
August 8 - August 16, 2008
OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, 8/08/08, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Inspired by the many things you can do with a quart bag, Civilian Art Projects has invited 100 DC area artists to participate in a community art exhibition called Quart Bag. The exhibition provides an imaginative opportunity for artists to use thirty-two ounces of space within a plastic quart size bag. At the beginning of this month I participated in the Corcoran Gallery of Art's Art Anonymous exhibition. These are images of my two pieces while they were still in the studio... and here they are in the gallery along with everybody else. Look for numbers 43 and 46.

iraq paintings

My studio neighbor Kat sent a care package to a unit of soldiers in Iraq--I bought a bunch of postcard sized frames at Ikea and included these paintings... They are cut out pieces from old paintings that I think are put to much better use this way.

Hope and Progress

There's a huge movement of independent artists making Obama posters... These by obeygiant are particularly lovely. They sold out, but they also provide free 8 x 10 black and white versions for printing.

Load of Fun opening

Went to the Load of Fun opening in which I had two paintings last weekend. I would say it was a great success... except that the curator hung my painting sideways--the ignominy! After yelling... that is, mumbling and stuttering... at her, the situation has been resolved. Still though, a great show, with a perfect title: "Eureka! Happy Accidents and Exquisite Failures".

Images are slightly blurry... I was borrowing a camera.
